This song was recorded by the British rock band The Yardbirds in 1965. Around this time, Eric Clapton left The Yardbirds and Jeff Beck joined.
The original plan was to record this with a real sitar player. When that didn't work out, Jeff played the part on guitar. But it turned out well, and Jeff does a great job of playing this song, which has a strong impact.
This time, I invited my American friend Stu and my British friend David to cover this song.
Then, I asked them to sing the whole song, which I then edited.
They're both great vocalists, so I knew it would work. lol
Here's a link to their great channel.

I received vocal data from them, and after listening to it, I came up with the idea of having them sing alternately.
Because they were recording in different places, I thought it would be confusing to know which song to listen to if they were to overlap at the same time, so I adopted this method. It seems to have worked.
Stu did the chorus.
Jeff used fuzz, but I played without it. The distortion in the characteristic phrases is the distortion of the mixer's preamp.
And, as a technique I often use in my performances, I turned up the guitar volume to the maximum for the lead phrases and about 7-8 for the accompaniment.
This gives it a sense of contrast, so I use this good old method.
The edgy strokes of the acoustic guitar characterize the song and enhance the impact of the rhythm. So I tried to play it as it is.
The bass is not a perfect copy, as I picked up the sound from the impression of the song. However, I thought this was enough, so I used it as it is.

[Verse 1]
Sick at heart and lonely
Deep in dark despair
Thinking one thought only
"Where is she, tell me where?"
[Pre-Chorus]
And if she says to you
She don't love me
Just give her my message
Tell her of my plea
[Chorus]
And I know
That if she had me back again
I would never make her sad
I've got a heart full of soul
[Guitar Solo]
[Chorus]
And I know
If she had me back again
I would never make her sad
I've got a heart full of soul
[Verse 2]
She's been gone such a long time
Longer than I can bear
But if she says she wants me
Tell her that I'll be there
[Pre-Chorus]
And if she says to you
She don't love me
Just give her my message
Tell her of my plea
[Chorus]
And I know
That if she had me back again
I would never make her sad
I've got a heart full of soul
